October 26-28, 2018: Excellent all round performances saw the Marlins Swim club claim the 3rd place spot at the recently concluded 2018 ASAJ Dean Martin Memorial Meet...

The Meet got off to a great start on Friday Afternoon with our sole Senior, Saidah repping well in the dreaded 800m distance event, placing 2nd in the 11-12yo Age Group. PB’s were also recorded by Jada & Chenille in the 13&Over 100 Back while Christanya & Josh closed the evening in fine style with Gold in their respective 200m IM with Xavier Hawes also recording a PB.

      

Saturday morning session was a blast mostly our Juniors & Intermediates in action, however, Christanya & Josh picked up where they left off, each landing 3 more Gold medals in the 50 Back, 50 Fly & 100 Free respectively with a Dihanne, Skyy, Nia, Zoya, Xavier Hawes, Zane, Anelka all recording PB’s in the various events. The Boys 200m Medley Closed the AM session with a Silver Medal finish. Our Seniors were again on display for the PM Session with Christanya copping another Gold, Saidah securing a CARIFTA Qualifying AA time in the 100m Free while Jordan Johnson, Kajuan, Khalil, Chenille & Jada all achieving PB’s in the varied events.

      

Sunday’s session saw a melting pot of all our groups in action with the highlights being multiple Golds by Christanya who was crowned Age Group Champion, another Gold for Josh Johnson, Saidah achieving 2 more CARIFTA Qualifying AA times, Jada Latibeaudiere also attaining a AA time and multiple PB’s by Khalil, Jordan Johnson, Alannah, Skyy, Krystal, Anelka, Xavier Hawes, Dihanne, Nia, Kajuan, Jada Latibeaudiere, Khijani while the 10&U Boys Relay Team closed the show with a Silver Medal performance.

Special mention must also be made of our 1st time participants, little Junior Zachary Buchanan, Senior Randy Fagan who both did tremendously well in their events.

      

The Jamaica Combined Cadet Force (JCCF) also responded to our volunteer request by providing the Marlins Swim Club with volunteer cadets for timekeeping for Saturday and Sunday sessions. We are truly grateful for the support that they continue to provide and acknowledge their efforts in the development of the youth and nation-building. A special "Thank You" as well to all the supportive parents, especially Keisha Anderson who assisted with providing lunch on Sunday. 

 

      

As always, we continue to appeal to all parents and guardians to keep encouraging the kids, get them to regular sessions more consistently, be patient and TRUST THE PROCESS .
